W8011 warning

Slash command collides with a Blizzard command

with --deny-warnings

The slash command is one of the game's own commands, such as /reload. Your handler and the game's would compete for it, and players may lose the command they know.

Pick a name of your own, ideally prefixed with your addon's name.

Example

× failswowlua
import slash from "wowlua:slash" @slash("/reload")local function reload(msg: string) print(msg) end
✓ compileswowlua
import slash from "wowlua:slash" @slash("/myreload")local function reload(msg: string) print(msg) end

The compiler reports it like this:

warning[W8011]: `/reload` is one of the game's slash commands
  ┌─ src/main.wowlua:3:8
  │
3 │ @slash("/reload")
│ ^^^^^^^^^ taken by the game
codemessage
E8101Invalid slash command name (must start with /, no whitespace)
E8010Duplicate slash command

Offline

terminal
$ wowlua explain W8011
W8011 (warning): Slash command collides with a Blizzard command
